In the realm of interior design, few styles evoke a sense of calm, peaceful ambience quite like the bohemian aesthetic. Creating a cozy boho bedroom that is a tranquil haven is an art, and I’m here to provide you with bohemian bedroom ideas to help you craft that dreamy escape where every moment feels like a serene getaway. Whether you’re seeking to infuse your space with earthy textures, vibrant patterns, or an overall sense of tranquility, these essentials will guide you in turning your bedroom into the ultimate retreat. Here are some ideas with 10 essentials for a dreamy boho bedroom.

When planning to decorate my boho inspired bedroom, I wanted it to look and feel a certain way: a calming, peaceful, serene, Zen space that was very cozy, comfortable, full of soft textures and ambient lighting. I want this room to be a safe haven and sacred space where I can go to meditate, rest, nap, create, and just feel relaxed and inspired.

I find the neutral beiges, creams and whites are very calming to me, so I decorated my room in that color scheme. This allows me to add pops of color and bold eclectic patterns by simply changing out the tapestries and pillows.

For an earthy bedroom aesthetic, I added natural elements like rattan decor and furniture, wicker baskets, wooden pieces, and crystals and stones.
Here’s how to recreate your own space with my 10 essentials for a dreamy boho bedroom.

COZY PILLOWS
Find the the softest, coziest pillows and get lots of them! I love pillows with different textures and patterns and particularly cute tassels or fringe for the perfect bohemian aesthetic. If you have your bed against the wall like I do, you can arrange the pillows along the side of the bed for more of a couch look and feel. I like using different size pillows to create an eclectic look. Large body pillows mixed with throw pillows or lumbar pillows is perfect.

WALL TAPESTRIES
Tapestries are the ultimate statement piece and an instant and easy way to totally transform your bedroom, living space, or dorm room. They can be displayed above a bed, couch, or even on the ceiling. You can mix and match different styles; I say the more the merrier! They are super easy to hang with either command strips or mounting putty and won’t damage your walls.

BEAUTIFUL BLANKETS
To create a boho chic look, find a lovely Moroccan wedding style blanket adorned with sequins, tassels, pompoms, and braids, and use it as a bedspread. Then for the perfect bohemian bed, layer with lots of cozy throws and warm blankets.

BED CANOPY
In my opinion, a bed canopy really is the most impactful piece of decor for the perfect boho bed. It makes the whole room feel dreamy, romantic, and magical. You can tie the canopy at the corners, or leave it draping down while you sleep. You could even add string lights to it for more ambience. It would be a great addition to a kids’ room too!

STRING LIGHTS
I am big on mood lighting and creating the perfect ambience for my bedroom. String lights or fairy lights are a must for a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The warm glow gives a serene vibe, and they look so pretty when hung on the canopy, over the tapestries, or in the curtains. Choose lights with a remote for more convenience.

SHAG RUGS
Shaggy rugs give a comfortable and soft feel to the room. Patterned and jute rugs provide visual interest. The boho aesthetic is all about layering. Layer different textured rugs for a more eclectic look and add floor cushions or poufs for a cozy floor space.

SALT LAMPS
Himalayan salt lamps give a soothing, warming amber glow to your space. They are made from a hollowed out natural block of real Himalayan salt with a light bulb inside. I have both the pink Himalayan salt lamps and the white selenite. I love the look of multiple lamps together of different sizes. Not only do they promote relaxation, they also make a perfect night light. I highly recommend one with a dimmer switch option to customize your glow.

DREAMCATCHERS
Dreamcatchers and macramé wall hangings are a staple of boho decor. Dreamcatchers are believed by Native American cultures to protect us against bad dreams and negative energy. Hang a few above your bed as decorative wall art. They come in many designs, often with pretty wooden beads and feathers, lace and ribbons.

CRYSTALS & STONES
I am obsessed with crystals and stones and have them in every room of my house. It is the perfect way to incorporate organic glamour into your decor along with promoting spiritual wellbeing and positive energy. I love quartz and selenite for my boho room, but you can’t go wrong in selecting crystals. Pick whatever you are called to and display them on the dresser, side tables, or in the window sill. Choose rose quartz to promote love, citrine for positive energy, selenite to cleanse negative energy, or black tourmaline for protection.

PLANTS
For an earthy bedroom aesthetic, fill your room with beautiful indoor houseplants. Caring for plants is so therapeutic. Plus, plants clean indoor air by absorbing toxins and producing oxygen. My favorite easy houseplants to care for are succulents, snake plants, philodendron, jade plant, and palms. Place them in beautiful pots and planters. My favorite place to find unique pots is thrift stores. I thrifted this lovely gold pot and mini rattan peacock chair.
