You can use clippings from your own succulent plants or purchase some from a nursery or places like Home Depot, Walmart, etc. I was lucky to have a neighbor who gave me succulent clippings from their yard. Choose succulents of different styles, textures, lengths, and especially a variety of colors for a vibrant centerpiece display.

You can choose any pumpkin of your liking, but Cinderella pumpkins have such a beautiful look and also have a wider top surface area for adding succulents.

How to Create:
Start by gluing some moss to the top of the pumpkin. I used my hot glue gun, but you can also use spray adhesive.

Next, add some hot glue to the stems of the succulents and place in the moss. Hold it there for a few seconds to make sure it adheres.

I like to start with larger succulents and then add smaller ones as filler pieces. You can have some longer pieces hanging down the sides as well.

Keep gluing the succulents to the moss and take a look at your pumpkin from all sides to see which areas need to have more pieces to fill in. Add twigs or other organic elements of your liking too!

When the centerpiece looked just about finished, I glued some more pieces of moss around the pumpkin as needed. I love the look of the moss nested under the succulents.

How to make it last:
The centerpiece will last throughout the season. Be sure to mist it with water weekly. Get the moss wet so the succulents stay moist and fresh. After a couple weeks they should begin to grow roots. The best thing about this is you don’t have to throw it away when the pumpkin gets too old. Replant the entire top part of succulents into some potting soil and they will begin to grow new plants! You can either pull them off individually and plant them, or you cut the top of the pumpkin and plant the entire thing.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY pumpkin succulent centerpiece idea and are inspired to create your own!
