Having a dedicated space for creativity can inspire artistic expression, boost productivity, and provide a relaxing retreat from daily life. It should feel like an invitation to create, and you should feel inspired by your surroundings. Whether you love painting, drawing, journaling, or crafting, designing a creative corner in your home will help you stay inspired and organized. Here’s how to design a creative corner that inspires you.

Your creative corner should reflect your personality and artistic style. Use colors, textures, and decor that make you feel energized, inspired, and motivated.
Choose the Right Spot
I’m simply using my corner desk in my office for my creative corner. It doesn’t have to be a large space, just a little area where you can have fun with your creative hobbies! Look for a quiet, well-lit area in your home. A cozy nook by a window, an unused corner in a room, or even a section of a larger space can work well. Natural light is ideal, but if that’s not possible, invest in good lighting to keep your workspace bright and inviting.

Keep Creative Supplies Handy
Keep your materials within easy reach so you can start creating whenever inspiration strikes. Some ideas include:
Jars and Cups: Perfect for storing pens, brushes, and markers. I keep my favorite pens in cute vintage cups that I thrifted.
Drawer Organizers: Keep smaller items like erasers, sharpeners, and clips in order. I have little bowls and trays that I keep sequins, glitter, and other little adornments I frequently use.
Shelves or Pegboards: Hang supplies on the wall to save space and keep things visible. I use this desktop shelving organizer to hold my notebooks, pens, and other accessories.
Books and Magazines: Keep art books or creative guides within reach for inspiration.

I love this shelf for for organizing my notebooks, pens, and glitters.

I always keep my art journal on my desk so I can be ready to work in it each day.

I keep little storage bowls and boxes full of things I frequently use. I keep dried paint pieces in this box to re-use them for another art project. I also always keep my favorite jars of glitter out.
Add Inspirational Elements
I like to be surrounded by creative and beautiful images that spark my imagination.

Hang Artwork: Display your favorite art pieces or your own creations. I have almost my whole wall covered with art from my favorite artists, along with a few pieces I created. I love being surrounded by lots of color, texture, and sparkly bits!

Shop cute art:

Inspiration Board: Pin up sketches, quotes, color swatches, or magazine clippings. This is my favorite element of my creative corner. My inspiration board is like my real life Pinterest board. It’s the place I pin things that bring me joy, things that inspire me, color themes I love, my current vibe I’m going for in my designs and style and in life, and just things I love to look at while at my desk all day. It’s a mixture of a vision board, mood board, and artistic collage display; so I like to call it my inspiration board.

Plants or Crystals: Add natural elements to create a calming atmosphere. I always have a plethora of pretty crystals and stones on my desk as my art is super inspired by nature, especially the colors and textures of crystals.

My little cactus plant, crystals and stones, and neon heart light give my creative corner a fun vibe.

Desktop Wallpaper: Displaying a colorful and/or inspiring wallpaper on your computer screen is a creative way to dress up your space. I like to use artistic wallpapers and change them out frequently. I love turning on my computer and seeing the beautiful abstract designs. I created this one from one of my paintings.

I hope you’re inspired to design a creative corner that inspires you. I feel like my corner has become such a perfect place for endless creativity and fun!
