You’ll need:
Step 1: choose a pumpkin. I found my foam and plastic pumpkins for $1 each at the dollar store and Target dollar spot.
Step 2: Choose a pretty paper or fabric. I found some super cute tissue paper and metallic wrapping paper that I thought would look perfect. I find that the thinner the paper, the easier it it is to work with.
Step 3: Start by cutting your paper or fabric into small strips. Using a sponge brush, apply some mod podge to the strip.
Step 4: Press the strip onto the pumpkin firmly and smooth out the wrinkles gently. Keep adding the strips around the pumpkin until fully covered. You could obviously cut whatever shapes or designs you want and paste them onto the pumpkins. I just did strips for these examples. It can get a little messy and sticky, so I keep a dampened rag nearby to wipe my fingers when necessary.
Step 5: Apply a final coat of mod podge all over to seal it. Then let it fully dry.
Optional step: paint the stems black or any coordinating color of your liking. I had black nail polish on hand, so I just used that!
Another easy way to decorate a pumpkin is with washi tape. Cut the tape into strips and apply the same way. I found some cute black and white polka dot washi tape and created this cute little pumpkin.
Done! The possibilities are endless of what style pumpkins you can create. It’s so fun to have a custom chic pumpkin that no one else will have!
